Can I park overnight in Fullerton?

Generally no. Public streets and City parking facilities generally prohibit parking from 2:00–5:00 AM daily (FMC § 8.44.080), unless a posted exemption or applicable valid permit allows it. Private streets require separate owner and legal checks; RV restrictions also cover private streets.

How long can I leave my car parked in one spot?

No 72 consecutive hours or more on a public street or alley. Fullerton Municipal Code § 8.44.180 also applies on public overnight-exemption blocks and to permit holders. Private-street rules come from the owner and posted signs. A qualifying vehicle may be towed after the limit.

Who can get an early-morning permit?

Eligible Fullerton residents with insufficient on-site parking can apply. Check your address first. Single-family properties may receive up to two permits; multifamily/ADU units one per address. Permits cover the issuing address’s adjacent street, expire December 31 of the issue year, and cost $50 plus fees without proration. Eligibility and documents require City approval; parking is not guaranteed. If adjacent parking is unavailable, the policy allows the permitted vehicle on the same block within 200 feet.

Is street sweeping skipped on holidays?

Yes — on 11 listed city holidays. The City lists 11 no-sweeping holidays and says service resumes at the next regular sweep. Observed substitute dates are not all confirmed in the map calendar. Check the current City notice when a holiday falls on a weekend; do not infer that other parking restrictions are suspended.

Which blocks are exempt from the overnight ban?

Only the blocks on the city's exemption list — and sometimes only one side of the street. The City identifies exempt blocks and sometimes only one curb side. Compare the map’s dated snapshot with the official list and the signs at the exact curb. An exemption does not cancel other restrictions.

Does an overnight permit cover every restriction?

No. Early-morning and resident-only permits serve different rules. An early-morning permit does not waive sweeping, 72-hour, time-limit or resident-only restrictions. A resident-only permit does not waive 2–5 AM restrictions. Resident-only holiday exemptions follow a separate City list; check your zone and permit.

Can an RV use the ordinary street map result?

No. RV rules apply at all times, including on private streets. FMC 8.46.030 generally restricts RV stopping/parking on public or private streets, alleys and public property. Limited exceptions include actual business/service visits of up to two hours, qualifying emergency repairs, or a temporary RV permit. Read the conditions before relying on an exception.

What about trucks and wide vehicles?

Separate vehicle rules may apply. FMC 8.44.210 limits defined large commercial vehicles to three hours on public streets, with specified work, loading, disability and approved-area exceptions. FMC 8.44.085 adds a 2–5 AM rule for covered wide vehicles. The map does not evaluate vehicle classification.

Are downtown and station lots unrestricted?

No. Each lot or structure has its own signs. The City describes typical daytime limits of two to three hours in downtown and station lots. Metrolink lists passenger parking, a 72-hour structure limit and three-hour limits in other marked lots; selected downtown locations charge at night. These are not blanket permission for every space or overnight stay.

Where should I check for sweeping signs?

Check neighborhood entrances as well as your curb. The City may post route signs at neighborhood entrances. A sweeper passing, rain, or a missed service is not by itself proof that parking is permitted. For service/sign questions call (714) 738-6897.
